Tuesday: Angel Olsen, Lionlimb, 9 p.m., One Eyed Jacks: Angel Olsen’s indie It-Girl status is well-earned with songwriterly music that could only come from her. Her individual song structures build tension, and her disinterest for conventional choruses prevents her songs from resolving into pat truths. This weekend, The Voodoo Music Experience takes place in City Park with OutKast, Arctic Monkeys, and Foo Fighters, who’ve got a two-plus hour slot and will likely invite out Trombone Shorty and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band to close the festival Sunday. Oh yes—and lots of thumping. (tickets)
