My Spilt Milk picks the highlights of the upcoming week.

Friday: Chad Valley, 10 p.m., Hi-Ho Lounge: The British Chad Valley's electro-pop has R&B and disco in its DNA on 2012's Young Hunger (tickets) Also on Friday: The Instrument Repair Initiative Benefit feat. Paul Sanchez & Minimum Rage, Social Set, Tank & the Bangas and Sweet Crude, 9 p.m., Tipitina’s (tickets); Fire Bug, The Hitchhicker, 10 p.m., One Eyed Jacks (tickets

Saturday: Kenny Chesney, 7 p.m., House of Blues: In my interview with Americana singer/songwriter Todd Snider, he talks admiringly about Kenny Chesney, and my experience with big time country shows is that when you see them, you understand why country stars are so big. Watch the show as a pop clinic and you can learn a lot, as well as hear some pretty bulletproof melodies. The show is presented by the Brees Dream Foundation and is the culmination of its “Amazing Race” fundraiser. (tickets) Also on Saturday: Ozomatli, The Soul Rebels, 10 p.m., Tipitina’s (tickets); Homebody, Tare, Birthstone, 9 p.m., Gasa Gasa (tickets); Lynn Drury CD-release party, 9 p.m., Chickie Wah Wah; Katey Red’s birthday feat. Big Freedia, Magnolia Rhome, Josephine Donald, and more, 10 p.m., Siberia (tickets)

Monday: Moving Units, 10 p.m., Circle Bar: The Los Angeles-based dance-rock band dates started in 2001, but this incarnation includes only founding member Blake Miller, who split from the group in 2012.

Tuesday: Truckfighters, Star and Dagger, Ossacrux, 8 p.m., One Eyed Jacks: A night of heavy rock topped by the Swedish power trio (emphasis on power). (tickets) Also on Tuesday: Lucinda Williams, Kenneth Brian Band, 8 p.m., House of Blues (tickets)

Other Stuff

Chelsea Handler's become as well known for her woozy persona and E! Channel show's raking of the day in celebrity news, but she started as an actress and stand-up comic. Friday night, she'll perform at the Mahalia Jackson Theater as part of her "Uganda Be Kidding Me" tour.

This weekend, Bayou Boogaloo presents familiar festival fare on three stages on the banks of Bayou St. John in Mid-City. Bayou Boogaloo is free and starts tonight with Nigel Hall and King James and the Special Men topping the bill. Saturday, Eric Lindell and former Radiator Ed Volker close the stages, and Sunday ends with Rosie Ledet and the Zydeco Playboys, and Mister Fred and his Round Pegs, which includes Beth Patterson, Lynn Drury, John Lisi and Mark Mullins.
