This Week's Soundtrack looks forward to this week in New Orleans, Voodoo, and soccer in Brazil.

This Week's Soundtrack

1. "World Cup Fever" - Air Miami: Every four years, I dig out this ridiculously great pop song and love it again.

2. "Bodies Made Of" - Parquet Courts: From the new album, Sunbathing Animal.

3. "I Try to Talk to You" - Hercules & Love Affair: From the new album, The Feast of the Broken Heart.

4. "Ass Rotation (Smookie Illson Remix)" - Quickie Mart: A non-New Orleanian's effort to remix Quickie Mart's bounce track to coincide with the national understanding of twerking. Quickie Mart plays Southport Hall Thursday, where he'll open for Sage Francis.

5. "Lift Dat Leg Up" - Big Freedia: From Freedia's new album, Just Be Free.

6. " Cheat Code" - Sage Francis: Francis will play Southport Hall Thursday with Quickie Mart and Jonathan Brown.

7. "Teardrop" - Massive Attack: The song that provided the theme music for the TV show House.

8. "Broken Blue" - Hundred Waters: Hundred Waters is the first non-DJ to sign to Skrillex's OWSLA record label, and they'll play One Eyed Jacks Wednesday.

9. "Fruit of the Forest" - Straight Arrows: One of my favorite garage rock tracks in a long time, from the Australian band's new album, Rising.

10. "Solid Gold Hell" - Scientists: Another great Australian garage band with a definite punk edge.

11. "We Knew Him Well" - Down: From their recent EP, Down IV Part II.

12. "The Taste of Dying" - Crowbar: More local metal, this from Crowbar's new album, Symmetry in Black.

13. "Straight, Hard and Long" - Beasts of Bourbon: More Australian garage punk from the still-pissed-off-after-all-these-years Low Life.

14. "The Kudzu and the Concrete" - Lee Bains III & the Glory Fires: Bains plays One Eyed Jacks Sunday with Diarrhea Planet.

15. "Dograces" - Dub Thompson: From the eight-song 9 Songs album. Dub Thompson plays Gasa Gasa July 4.

16. "French Film Blurred" - Wire: The difficult (to be kind) Document And Eyewitness live album by Wire will be out August 18. Here's the band from Chairs Missing and the era that made its reputation.

17. "Life of Sin" - Sturgill Simpson: Last week Voodoo announced its 2014 talent lineup, and one of the names that made me happy is Sturgill Simpson, a classic country singer with not-so-classic lyrics on his Metamodern Sounds in Country Music album.
