Win Tickets to See "Open Mic From Hell"

We’re giving away a pair of tickets to see “Open Mic from Hell” at The Toulouse Theatre on Monday, January 13 at 8 p.m. The contest closes Sunday, January 12 at 6 p.m.

“Open Mic from Hell” started in The Comedy House as a weekly show that merged stand-up comedy with improv. Comedians get up with every intention of doing a stand-up set, but they’re given a prompt or challenge that they have to factor in, and the way they handle that curveball leads to laughs.

Creator Chris Trew described it as having “the electricity of a game show., the unpredictability of a daredevil stunt [and] the energy of pro wrestling.” It launched at The Comedy House and for at least the next four weeks, it will have a new home at The Toulouse Theatre.

Open Mic from Hell doesn’t necessarily provide the best stand-up or improv, but the concept insures against the worst of both worlds. It saves audiences from sub-par stand-up comedians and staves off the more indulgent, self-involved improv by putting acts on a tight timeframe. Ideas don’t get a chance to overstay their welcome.

Tickets to “Open Mic from Hell” at the Toulouse Theatre are on sale now.
