Register for a Chance to Win Tickets to See Bright Eyes and Hurray for the Riff Raff
The well-matched indie Americana bands play the Orpheum Monday and we have a pair of tickets to give away.
Bright Eyes will play the Orpheum on Monday, May 23 with Hurray for the Riff Raff opening, and we have a pair of tickets to give away to the show. Register here for a chance to win.
In 2020, the band released Down In the Weeds, Where the World Once Was, its first album of new music in almost a decade. Conor Oberst doesn’t do small feelings, and as Pitchfork reviewer Marc Hogan writes, “Though the musical setting is contemporary, the message is familiar for Bright Eyes, with lyrics that are as personal as they are apocalyptic.” That makes Oberst the kind of voice that makes sense right now, down to a his vocal quaver, which teeters between rage and falling apart.
One dollar of every ticket sold on this tour will go to the Downtown Women’s Center in Los Angeles—a decision Oberst announced last December that now seems particularly relevant.
Opening will be Hurray for the Riff Raff, who make a lot of sense on this bill. My Spilt Milk’s Mia Huber reviewed their most recent album, Life on Earth, and wrote, “Hurray for the Riff Raff makes music for people who live right now. For those that watch the news with their heads in their hands, who experience the world slowly burning and see politicians do nothing about it. For survivors whom no one believed. For those who have had to run for their lives, and tried to outrun the past.”
Tickets to Bright Eyes are on sale now. This contest closes Sunday, May 22 at 6 p.m.
