My Spilt Milk at Jazz Fest 2017
The one-stop for all of our coverage of New Orleans' Jazz and Heritage Festival presented by Shell, and the music at night in the clubs.
The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival presented by Shell starts Friday, so much of our next two weeks here at My Spilt Milk will be dedicated to previews or coverage of shows that will take place at the Fair Grounds or in the clubs at night.
We have a pretty ambitious slate of stories coming up as you can see below, and these aren’t all that we have planned. On Thursday night this week and Wednesday night next week, we’ll post our downloadable daily schedules with our picks for each day color-coded on to the grids. I download it to my iPhone and use it instead a paper schedule.
We’ll also be active on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, so you’ll know what we know when we learn it, and you can keep track of our coverage through our social media, by subscribing to our weekly newsletter, or by returning to this page, where each story will be linked once it’s live.

We were a little ambitious this year and didn't get everything written that we planned. Over the course of the next week or two, we'll finish what we planned on. We'll have reviews of the new album from The Meyers--the funk band featuring alumni from the New Orleans Klezmer All-Stars--as well as albums by Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Sweet Crude, King James and the Special Men, Chloe Feoranzo and Tom McDermott, The Deslondes, Flow Tribe, Naughty Professor, and Aurora Nealand. We'll present Sarah Quintana's Milky Way soon, and we'll flesh out the stories we did on PJ Morton and Nicholas Payton. The festival may be over, but the records remain worthy of consideration, and the stories deserve to be more completely told.
