A look a the week ahead in New Orleans music including New Year's Eve, New Orleans Punk and New Wave Reunion and Netherfriends.

Friday: 2nd Annual Punk/New Wave Reunion, 8 p.m., Jimmy's:The New Orleans punk rock and new wave community is active on Facebook and this year, onstage, with many groups reuniting to play Sunday at Voodoo this year. Jimmy's was their musical home, and Jimmy's will reopen Friday and Saturday for the 2nd annual Punk and New Wave Reunion featuring The Models, The Limit, Stephie and the White Sox and The Backstabbers. Also on Friday: Dr. John, Johnny Sansone, 8 p.m., House of Blues (tickets); Elon Hornsby, DJ Sonia Lofton, 9 p.m., House of Blues' Parish (tickets); Big Sam's Funky Nation, Brass-A-Holics, 10 p.m., Tipitina's (tickets); Dirty Dozen Brass Band, 10 p.m., d.b.a. 

Saturday: George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, DJ Soul Sister, 10 p.m., Tipitina's: A P-Funk lineup at full strength may require members to perform from balcony and behind the monitor board, but the Clinton and Company continue to be funky on an epic scale. Sunday: Better Than Ezra, 7 p.m., Harrah's Casino Theater: New Orleans' alternative rock heroes only play the city seasonally, but it's a gathering of the tribe for a band that has always had a gift for songs about feeling beautifully misunderstood. (tickets)  

Monday: Black Lips, King Louie's Missing Monuments, The Orwells, 9 p.m., One Eyed Jacks: The Atlanta-based garage punks headline One Eyed Jacks' New Year's Eve show. (tickets) Also on Monday: Eric Lindell, The Sunliners, 10 p.m., The Circle Bar; Rebirth Brass Band, Papa Grows Funk, 10:30 p.m., The Howlin' Wolf (tickets); Galactic, MyNameIsJohnMichael, 10 p.m., Tipitina's (tickets); Gregg Allman, Royal Southern Brotherhood, 10 p.m., House of Blues (tickets)

Wednesday: Netherfriends, 10 p.m., The Circle Bar: Shawn Rosenblatt performs as one man indie band Netherfriends, and he starts a month-long Wednesday residency. 

Other Stuff

This weekend, Carrollton Station changes hands. Eric Orlando is ending his stint running the Station with a couple of free shows. On Friday starting at 8 p.m., there will be a singer/songwriter showcase with Marc Belloni, Kelcy Mae, Cortland Burke, Andrew Duhon, Pony Space, DC Harbold, Mark Adam Miller, Pete Winkler, Alexis Marceaux & Sam Craft, and Amanda Walker. On Saturday starting at 9 p.m., The Blackened Blues Band will play a night of classic rock, soul, funk and blues.

On Saturday, Rob Cambre's Anxious Sound presents its 10th Annual Anxious Sound Holiday HO-Down at the Hi-Ho Lounge. For the night, he will gather together a lot of the city's improvised music community including James Singleton, Helen Gillet, Simon Lott, Donald Miller, Jeff Albert, Doug Garrison and more.
