Friday: Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Foxygen, Wampire, 10 p.m., One Eyed Jacks: UMO is small for an orchestra - three pieces - and on the recently released II, they're not as lo-fi as on their debut album, but close enough to give their psychedelic songs context. A writer at Pitchfork found the extended tracks in the middle of the album tiresome; for me, they're the band at its most distinctive and trippy. Fortunately, the songs that bracket them offer more conventional pleasure. When their debut album title grouses Nobody Dances in This Town, it's because it's clear they like to. Tuesday: Scott, Seeger & Gillet, 8 & 10 p.m., Snug Harbor: I've become allergic to the Jazz Fest nighttime staple of putting together four or five musicians who don't normally play together, but this show isn't exactly that. Still, I'm curious what vocalist Cindy Scott, guitarist Brian Seeger and cellist Helen Gillet will come up with together.
