Win Tickets to See Miles Tackett

The funk, soul and blues guitar hero explored his L.A. roots on his album "The Fool Who Wonders," and we're giving away a pair of tickets to see him at the Howlin' Wolf's Den Saturday night.

For 20 or so years, Miles Tackett has been making music with one foot in traditional funk/soul/blues world, and one in the DJ culture that fetishizes the sound of its records. He’s the son of Little Feat’s Fred Tackett, has played guitar since he was eight, and is best known for playing in the Breakestra, which wrote and played songs that sounded like tracks that must have been sampled somewhere by someone. His focus on ‘60s and ’70s soul, funk and jazz led to weekly parties in Los Angeles that his bands played and he eventually DJ’ed.

Last summer, Tackett recorded The Fool Who Wonders. According to Wax Poetics:

While there is some funky material similar to his work with Breakestra, Tackett has broken out of the genre to explore to roots of L.A.’s historic music scene, rich with ʼ60s rock and R&B, Canyon folk, psychedelia, and blue-eyed soul.
