Sunday: Speedy Ortiz, Opposable Thumbs, 10 p.m., Circle Bar: The Massachusetts-based quartet led by Sadie Dupuis take on an indie sound similar to Pavement, with an emphasis on lyrics. Sunday night, they play songs from the new album, Major Arcana.
Monday: The Eastern Sea, Roadkill Ghost Choir, The Kid Carsons, 9:30 p.m., Gasa Gasa: Gasa Gasa dedicates a night to indie rock up-and-comers from Austin. (tickets).
Wednesday: Filligar, Mikaela Davis, ArchAnimals, 7:30 p.m., House of Blues' Parish: Named "One of Music's Next Big Things" by Spin Magazine, the Mathias brothers show off their rock n' roll aptitude in Filligar's latest album, Hexagon (tickets).
Thursday: The Octopus Project, 10 p.m., One Eyed Jacks: The Austin-based electronica, psychedelic pop band provide plenty of sound in their newly released album, Fever Forms (tickets); Also on Thursday: MiMOSA, Kthulu Prime, SugarBear, Klutch, 10 p.m., The Republic (tickets)

The 13th Annual Satchmo SummerFest starts this Friday at noon and continues through Sunday night with seminars focusing Louis Armstrong's life and impact, along with live performances from New Orleans greats including Kermit Ruffins, Allen Toussaint, and Ellis Marsalis. White Linen Nightcelebrates its 19th anniversary this Saturday night, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Julia Street. With over two dozen open galleries, live music, and food and drink stands catered by local restaurants, this is one event that art connoisseurs and block party enthusiasts shouldn't miss. An afterparty will be held at the Contemporary Arts Center until midnight.
Sunday night, the local chapter of the Jazz Journalists Association will finish Satchmo SummerFest with a salute to Louis Armstrong, Jazz Journalist. Chuck Perkins, Jonathan Freilich, John Swenson and My Spilt Milk's Alex Rawls will be among those who'll read from Armstrong's journals at Cafe Istanbul starting at 8 p.m.
