Friday through Sunday, the New Orleans Comic Con will take place in the Convention Center. To celebrate the convention, The Howlin' Wolf hosts an All Nerd Rock-a-Thon: Chewbacchus’ Comic Con After Party, Friday, starting at 10 p.m. with performances by The Consortium of Genius, Sci-Fried, and Space Metal.
UNO Lakefront Arena hosts a night of comedy with Let the Laughter Roll feat. Sommore, Bruce Bruce, Earthquake and more, Saturday starting at 8 p.m. (tickets).
On January 21, local jazz musician Doug Potter was the victim of severe beating in the French Quarter while walking home from a gig. A Benefit for Doug Potter, featuring performances by Meschiya Lake & The Little Big Horns, Washboard Chaz Blues Trio, Showarama, Tim Robertson, John Boutté, and the Doug Potter All-Stars, with food catered by Commander's Palace, will be held Sunday, 2 p.m., at d.b.a.
Shakedown II: a Benefit for the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic, will be held Thursday, 8 p.m., at The Howlin’ Wolf, with performances by The New Orleans Suspects, Bonerama, Ed Volker, Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes, Honey Island Swamp Band, Tommy Malone, and more.
