1. "Lightning Bolt" - Pearl Jam: From the new album of the same name. They'll open The Voodoo Music Experience Friday, November 1 at City Park. We're giving away weekend passes to Voodoo here.
2. "Up in Heaven (Not Only Here)" - The Clash: Last week, writing about the behind-the-albums videos "Audio Ammunition" got me in the mood for The Clash.
3. "Police on My Back" - The Equals: The original version of the song covered by The Clash on Sandinista. The vocalist and songwriter is Eddy Grant, who would later rock down to Electric Avenue.
4. "Don't Let Me Die in Florida" - Patty Griffin: A sentiment we all share. Griffin will be at Tipitina's Wednesday.
5. "Black Hill Smoke" - Ponderosa: Ponderosa has morphed from a classic rock band to a more convincing psychedelic band that has found a home away from home at The Howlin' Wolf, where they'll play Saturday night in the Den.
6. "Slow Six" - Surfer Blood: From this year's Pythons. We're pleased to present Surfer Blood at One Eyed Jacks next Tuesday, November 29. Register for a chance to win tickets to that show here.
7. "One More Time" - The Madd Wikkid: From Brassft Punk, an EP of Daft Punk songs remade as brass band music. Brassft Punk will play with Space Capone Friday night at Tipitina's.
