Last Night: Little Dragon and Thrill Kill Kult

Photographer Steven Hatley shot the Swedish indie dance pop band Tuesday and the industrial rock mainstays Sunday night.

My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult has been killing since 1987, but they continue to put on a dynamic, very visual show, as Steven Hatley's photos from Sunday's stop at One Eyed Jacks make clear.

Tuesday night, Swedish dance pop band Little Dragon played to a packed house at The Republic. The show was a little contemplative in keeping with the tone of Nabuma Rubberband, but it was also a pleasant surprise to see the physical effort needed to create the band's sound. Vocalist Yukimi Nagano shook a racket-like tambourine with real commitment, and at one point or another everybody onstage used a drumstick. Perhaps for that reason and the oddly low volume, the synthesized music sounded simply like the future music that new wave predicted with none of self-conscious futurism of the '80s bands.
