Hell Yes to Gleason and More
A look at the week ahead, including Gleason Gras and the Hell Yes Comedy Festival.
[Updated] Last year, a cold rain took the edge off of the debut of Gleason Gras. This Sunday there remains a chance of rain, but the temperature should be in the 70s. Later in the week, The New Movement's Hell Yes Fest brings stand-up comics and improv groups to a number of venues in town. Here are the week's highlights:
Friday: Black Moth Super Rainbow, Coffin Girls, One Eyed Jacks, midnight: This Pittsburgh-based is so trippy that there's no better word for them than "psychedelic," but their songs are also often lovely and melodic despite the vocoder'ed vocals. (tickets)

Saturday: Generationals, ArchAnimals, Teen Hustle, Tipitina's, 10:30 p.m.: Generationals are a New Orleans indie rock band with a gift for consistently hooky songs that recall the '80s without sounding retro. (tickets)

Sunday: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Dee-1, House of Blues, 8:30 p.m.: Indie rap sensations Macklemore and Ryan Lewis made their mark with the "Thrift Shop" earlier this year. Dee-1 is on the whole tour with them. (tickets)
Monday: Kreayshawn, House of Blues, 9 p.m.: Kreayshawn had the pop rap hit "Gucci Gucci" a year ago, and while the reception has been cool to her new album, Somethin' 'Bout Kreay, she cut a bounce track for it with Diplo and Sissy Nobby. (tickets)

Tuesday: A$AP Rocky, Schoolboy Q, Danny Brown, A$AP Mob, House of Blues, 9 p.m.: Hustler and rapper A$AP Rocky just dropped his debut album on Halloween. (tickets)

Wednesday: Counting Crows, Mahalia Jackson Theater, 8 p.m.: The long-time American Americana band returns to New Orleans. (tickets)

Thursday: Rick Ro$$, Meek Mill and Wale, UNO Lakefront Arena, 7:30 p.m.: Rick Ro$$ and artists on the Maybach Music Group hip-hop label perform. (tickets)

Other Events
On Sunday, Gleason Gras returns with better weather and a lineup that is topped by Pearl Jam's Mike McCready and Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue. Also on the bill are The Revivalists, MyNameIsJohnMichael, Rotary Downs, Royal Teeth, Supagroup, Coyotes and Paul Varisco and The Milestones. The event starts at noon and tickets start at $20. The New Movement has established an improv comedy troupe and theater in the Marigny, and Tuesday they kick off Hell Yes Fest with the Hell Yes Film Fest at The Prytania. After that, there will be stand-up and improv performances at a host of venues around town including the opening night stand-up show at The Republic including Cheaters' Joey Greco. Also on Tuesday, The Howlin' Wolf will host a fundraiser for The Lake Area High School Marching Band with performances by Rebirth Brass Band, To Be Continued Brass Band, Michael Ward, Davell Crawford, and more. Tickets are $25 and on sale now.

The Bounce XX show initially included in The Milk Run takes place November 1, not November 8. Consquently, it has been deleted.
