This week's Freshly Spilt Milk new music playlist feaures music from Hinds, Stratus, Allen Stone, and more!
1. “Water Water” – Humans: This head-nodding track, defined by a slow burning, minimal house groove, is an impressive first release from the Canadian duo’s digital EP, due out March 4.
2. “Raindrop (feat. Lapa)” – Stratus: Elegant layers of instrumentation and percussion conjure images of lush rainforests in this hip-hop and jazz influenced piece by Stratus.
3. “Precious Possession” – Anna Wise: Late night, bedroom trap sounds reminiscent of Blackbird Blackbird set the stage for Anna Wise’s dreamy seduction in this new single from the Grammy winning artist.
4. “Kung Fu" (feat. Future and Pusha T) – Baauer: One of the earliest, and most enduring trap music purveyors, Baauer, has released a fiery new single from his debut album, AA, due out March 18 on Lucky Me. Future will be in New Orleans to play Buku March 12.
5. “The Weekend” – Allen Stone: This is an upbeat pop tune infused with soul and funk that feels just right on a warm spring afternoon.
6. “Postal” – Boytoy: “Postal” pairs a surf rock sound with punk sensibilities, and the result is extremely catchy. The duo will be bringing their unique brand of energetic rock to Siberia on March 21.
7. “Criminal” – Fraea: This song’s simplicity is endearing; it is successful indie electro-pop. This duo’s debut EP, “Bend Your Bones” is set for release on April 29.
8. “Jump” – Kaptan: This lighthearted indie pop track is an exciting glimpse into what’s to come from Nashville artist, Kaptan.
9. “Dancing Industry” – The So So Glos: A rousing punk track that manages to lament the state of affairs in the music industry without being too contrived, this is a cut from Kamikaze, the So So Glo’s full-length studio album due out May 13.
10. “Garden” – Hinds: A rock group from Madrid, Hinds draw on Mac Demarco and the Black Lips to build quality punk tracks peppered with insightful lyricism. Hinds play Hi-Ho on March 14.
