A first listen to the single from Nine Inch Nails' upcoming album.

Nine Inch Nails have announced an album title, release date, and first single for its upcoming album. The band will release Hesitation Marks on September 3, before it plays The Voodoo Music Experience on the Halloween weekend.

The first track, "Came Back Haunted," is available as a download for those who pre-order the album. It echoes new wave with some Kraftwerkian keyboard textures and an ending straight out of Echo and the Bunnymen's "Never Stop" more than the atmospheric Ghosts I-IV or the guitar-heavy crunch of The Slip.

In other NIN news, NME.com reports that the current touring incarnation of the band has already undergone some changes. Evidently guitarist Adrian Belew announced on his Facebook page in post that has been deleted:

I greatly respect trent [reznor] and the music he makes. no one is at fault. we both agreed it just was not working.

In a second post that remains up, he wrote simply:

concerning me being part of the 2013 Nine Inch Nails band:

it didn't work.

NME.com also reported:

Belew is the second band member to leave Nine Inch Nails in less than a month. Bassist Eric Avery announced his departure on May 15, saying he had felt "overwhelmed" by "all the intensity that Nails demands".
