The Milk Run looks at the weekend ahead, including Sabotage, Creole Tomato Festival, and a couple of chances to see Lost Bayou Ramblers.

Friday: Lost Bayou Ramblers, Caddywhompus, Sweet Crude, 10 p.m., Tipitina's: Lost Bayou Ramblers are in a great place right now - hot as a band and creative as artists, with a rock 'n' roll take on Cajun music that works as both. (tickets) Also on Friday: Milo Greene, Cardinal Sons, 10 p.m., One Eyed Jacks: (tickets); Geto Boys, Jay Jones, Tacaloc, Codac, 10 p.m., The Howlin' Wolf (tickets); ArchAnimals, 10 p.m., Hi-Ho Lounge

Saturday: Ballzack and Odoms CD release party, Shadow of the Capricorn, 10 p.m., One Eyed Jacks: The West Bank rappers are funny as hell, but that doesn't mean it's a joke. (tickets) Also on Saturday: Kermit Ruffins' CD-release party, 10 p.m., Tipitina's (tickets); Chris Smither, 9 p.m., Chickie Wah Wah: The Ever Expanding Elastic Waste Band feat. Members of Morphine, 11 p.m., d.b.a. 

Sunday: Say Anything, 8 p.m., Tipitina's: The California rock band comes to town on what it calls its "Rarities and More" tour, which I take to mean we can expect some rarities and more. (tickets) Also on Sunday: Weatherbox, Timberhawk, 10 p.m., Circle Bar

Tuesday: Shana Falana, The Sunshine Factory, Isidro. DJ Transmuteo, 10 p.m., Siberia: The hazy, dream-pop duo from Brooklyn heads the bill. (tickets); Also on Tuesday: Slam Dunk, 10 p.m., Circle Bar

Thursday: Mumford & Sons, Michael Kiwanuka, Mystery Jets, 5 p.m., Mardi Gras World: Mumford & Sons are big enough that they can play and sell out unconventional venues with little publicity, and such is the case on this return to New Orleans. If the weather is anything like it was for Buku, perhaps you can enjoy the show upriver. Also on Thursday: Bipolaroid, Wooden Indian Burial Ground, The Naked Heroes, Jesse Tripp and the Nightbreed, 10 p.m., Siberia (tickets)

 

Other Events

On Friday, a collection of New Orleans musicians including Jermaine Quiz and members of Flow Tribe and Gravity A will play Sabotage: A NOLA Tribute to The Beastie Boys - a live, multimedia performance the hip-hop trio that last year lost member Adam Yauch to cancer.

The French Market Creole Tomato Festival and the Louisiana Cajun-Zydeco Festival take place Saturday and Sunday, with events and three stages between the Old U.S. Mint and the French Market. Both are free and feature performances by Lost Bayou Ramblers, BeauSoleil, Sean Ardoin, Geno Delafose, Lagniappe Brass Band, Red Hot Brass Band and more.
