Video of discussions on life after The T-P's changes and the growth of independent media.

Last Friday, I took part in The Oxford American's New South Journalism Symposium at the Historic New Orleans Collection. My panel, "The Life and Death of a Great American Newspaper: Recognizing the Times-Picayune," also included Kim Bondy, Andrew Nelson, and Nathaniel Rich.

The second panel, "Surviving the 24-Hour News Feed: Reporting Versus Content Generation," included Campbell Robertson, Carl Redman, Justin Shiels, and Steve Beatty of The Lens, a partner with My Spilt Milk in the New Orleans Digital News Alliance (which now has its own Facebook page). Both panels were moderated by the new editor of The Oxford American, Roger D. Hodge.

Here's video of the panels, shot by Jason Berry.

Disclosure: I am the guest editor of The upcoming Oxford American music issue, which is due out in December.
