Swamp Dogg, Chris Montez Join the Stomp

The festival celebrating the unsung heroes of rock 'n' roll adds some firepower.

The Ponderosa Stomp has made two big additions to this year's lineup. R&B singer, songwriter, and producer Swamp Dogg and Latino rock hero Chris Montez will join this year's garage-heavy lineup, which also includes The Standells, The Sloths, Ty Wagner and The Guanga Dyns, along with with Maxine Brown, Spencer Wiggins, and Lynn August. Swamp Dogg is the political, rude-humored alter ego of Jerry Williams, and he cut such classics as "Total Destruction to Your Mind" and "God Bless America for What?"  Montez is best known for the Farfisa-driven classic, "Let's Dance."

This year's Stomp returns to the Rock 'n' Bowl October 4 and 5, and organizers have put together a video to fill people in on the substantial garage rock component of this year's lineup, with three of the bands topping the bill Saturday night.

Tickets for the Ponderosa Stomp are on sale now, as are travel packages. This year's Stomp will also include The Hip Drop 45s dance party on October 3, the record show, and the music conference on October 3 and 4.
