This week's Milk Run looks ahead to an eclectic week of music in New Orleans, including a night of reggae at the House of Blues, neo-soul dance parties, and the return of folk royalty.

Friday: Prince Rama, Spaceface, 10 p.m., The Circle Bar: The psych-dance sisters return to Circle Bar with a collection of apocalyptic anthems off their latest concept album, Top Ten Hits of the End of the World. Also on Friday: Papa Mali, Mississippi Rail Company, 10 p.m., Tipitina's (free); Firebug, Oddfellows, Onion Loaf, 10 p.m., The Howlin' Wolf (tickets); Andrew Duhon, The Kid Carsons, Maggie Koerner, 10 p.m., One Eyed Jacks (tickets); Generationals, Gringo Star, Coyotes, 10 p.m., The Maison; Small Black, Heavenly Beat, DJ Pr_ck, 10 p.m., Hi Ho Lounge (tickets); Honey Island Swamp Band, 11 p.m., Maple Leaf Bar; Kelcy Mae, The Necessary Gentlemen, Jo Body, 10 p.m., Banks St. Bar 

Saturday: The Dirty Heads, The Expendables, Big B, The Scorseses, 7 p.m., House of Blues: Evidently no modern SoCal beach party is complete without a musical blend of reggae, hip-hop and ska (tickets). Also on Saturday:  Soul Rebels, DJ Captain Charles, 10 p.m., Tipitina's (tickets); Catfish Orchestra, Gravy Flavored Kisses, 10 p.m., The Howlin' Wolf (tickets); Webb Wilder and Tom Comet, 9 p.m., Chickie Wah Wah

Sunday: Queensryche, The Voodoos, Something Unto Nothing 8 p.m., Tipitina's: Twenty-five years later, prog metal legends Queensryche perform their Operation: Mindcrime. Sunday night, they team up with up-and-comers, The Voodoos and Something Unto Nothing (tickets). Also on Sunday: Todd Rundgren, 8 p.m., House of Blues (tickets); Deacon John's Birthday Bash, 8 p.m., Chickie Wah Wah; Big History, Little Maker, Hillbilly Hotel, 10 p.m., Circle Bar

Monday: Hurray for the Riff Raff acoustic, Gregory Good, 7:30 p.m., AllWays Lounge: The New Orleans folk staple, headed by Alynda Lee Segarra, never fail to impress. For their hometown stop on the nationwide tour, they will play an accoustic set. 

Wednesday: Portugal. The Man, Guards, 8 p.m., House of Blues: Evil Friends, the latest album from Portugal. The Man, comes off as a grittier, mature extension of their 2011 breakthrough record. With the help of producer Danger Mouse, the group's psych-pop sound is elevated with garage rock distortions and haunting melodies (tickets).

Thursday: ?uestlove, DJ Soul Sister, 9 p.m., Tipitina's: The celebrated drummer, producer, journalist, and founding member of The Roots, ?uestlove will show off more of his musical prowess Thursday night, with a DJ set alongside New Orleans' DJ Soul Sister. (tickets). Also on Thursday: Strange Roux, The Honorable South, 10 p.m., d.b.a.; BASSIK with Alvin Risk, Kid Kamillion, Unicorn Fukr, Shanook, 11 p.m., The Republic (tickets); Panorama Jazz Band, Fourth Ward Klezmer Orchestra, 10 p.m., Hi Ho Lounge; Hausu, Gallyknappers, 10 p.m., Circle Bar 

Other Events:

The music of New Orleans modern jazz pioneers Ellis Marsalis, James Black & Harold Battiste will be the focus of a performance Friday night by the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra featuring Irvin Mayfield. They'll be joined by special guests Ellis Marsalis and George Rodrigue with arrangements by Edward Petersen, Steve Masakowski & Victor Atkins. The show will take place at 7 p.m. at The Joy Theater (tickets).

Last year, comedian Hannibal Buress was in town for a bachelor party and did a set of new material at The New Movement Theater. Evidently he liked the experience enough to return for two nights - last night and tonight, Friday. performs Thursday, 8:30 p.m., at The New Movement Theater (tickets).

Al "Carnival Time" Johnson will celebrate his 74th birthday Sunday at 3 p.m. at BJ's Lounge. You'll definitely hear "Carnival Time," and there's a good chance Johnson will perform some classic New Orleans R&B at the piano as well.

Dat Dog in partnership with MyHouse NOLA will be holding the Food Truck Fest on Freret Street, Wednesday, from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The fest will feature a variety of food truck vendors, drink specials courtesy of Dat Dog and live music.

Comedian Doug Benson is best known to many for his years on VH-1's Best Week Ever, but he is also one of the pioneer comedians to venture into the world of podcasting, launching his Doug Loves Movies in 2006. He'll perform Thursday at 9 p.m. at The Howlin' Wolf,
