We're proud to present Surfer Blood at One Eyed Jacks October 29.

This summer, rock band Surfer Blood released its new album, Pythons, and when it returns to New Orleans on Tuesday, October 29 to play One Eyed Jacks, My Spilt Milk will be pleased to present the show. Of the album, Pitchfork wrote:

Produced by Gil Norton (Doolittle, Del Amitri), Pythons is a sleeker affair than 2010's bedroom-born Astro Coast and 2011's knotty Tarot Classics EP. With 10 lean songs in 32 minutes, there's hardly a second to waste, so Pythons largely dispenses with pageantry and heads straight for the stomp box. Instrumentally, Surfer Blood's reared-on-Pavement looseness proves hard to shake even on these no-nonsense melodies; guitars dive-bomb into choruses, hooks turn into group shout-alongs.

 NME wrote:

the band’s finely nuanced and understated treatment of the era works on ‘Pythons’. Aided by Foo Fighters and Pixies producer Gil Norton, Surfer Blood conjure college rock’s feeling of youthful, nostalgic melancholy without using any of the sub-genre’s gimmicks, such as reverb and faded vocals. They temper sadness with sunny music, aware that this is the way to render it doubly poignant (Elliott Smith was the master of this).

Drowned in Sound wrote:

On the surface, it's a breezily melodic collection of summer songs. But it's got an edge, moreso than Astro Coast, and that element of creeping unease makes Pythons a fuller, more mature and honest album than its precursor. It may well be holiday music, but this time it's a vacation tinged with regret.

We'll have tickets to give away and more on the show as it gets closer. For updates, watch My Spilt Milk and the show's Facebook Events page; for tickets, visit OneEyedJacks.com.
