Little Love for LA at the Grammys
frank-ocean-pyramids-video.jpg

The nominees have been announced for the 55th annual Grammy Awards, and ex-pats are the state's best chance to take home hardware.

This year, Louisiana's best hopes of bringing home Grammys come from people who've left the state for bigger success. Christopher Breaux was a singer, songwriter and student at UNO before he moved to Los Angeles, became Frank Ocean and released the excellent Nostalgia Ultra mixtape and, this year, Channel Orange, which earned him four nominations including Record of the Year, Album of the Year and Best New Artist. Hunter Hayes began as a child accordion prodigy; now he's playing country music, and when he sang "Wanted" in Hattiesburg, Mississippi as part of The Flaming Lips' 24-hour tour, three girls standing in front of him almost blushed themselves to death. That sort of charisma and musical strength paid off with nomination in the Best New Artist, Best Country Album and Best Country Solo Performance categories.

The Grammys will be awarded February 10, 2013 at 7 p.m. on CBS. Here's the list of categories in which Louisiana has a rooting interest. If I've missed somebody, let me know and I'll update the list.
