This week the Milk Run is excited by the 3 D's.
Friday: Down, Honky, Mount Carmel, 8:30 p.m., House of Blues: Down is a Cadillac metal band - heavy as hell, but with songs that move instead of lumber. Saturday: Baak Gwai, Dead Legends, Friendship Band, 10 p.m., Circle Bar: The Tuscaloosa-based band considers itself "prog-punk," which really means that they can jam almost anything into a song. Also on Saturday: Bonnie Masterson, Some Dark Holler, 9 p.m., Chickie Wah Wah
Tuesday: Dawes, Shovels & Rope, 10 p.m., Tipitina's: A strong night of Americana, with the lovely, harmony-laden country rock of Dawes, and the rowdy husband-and-wife/drums-and-guitar duo Shovels and Rope. (tickets)
Wednesday: Radiation City, King Rey, 10 p.m., Circle Bar: Dream pop from Portland with an uneasy undercurrent. Also on Wednesday: The Brand New Life Afrobeat/Fusion Septet, The Quickening, 10 p.m., Howlin' Wolf's Den (tickets)
Thursday: Bounce XXVII featuring Big Freedia, Sissy Nobby, DJ Jubilee, Walt Wiggity, Hasizzle, Rusty Lazer, 11 p.m., The Republic: Soon, we're going to have to Google the Roman numerals that count off this ongoing bounce party, this week with old school hero DJ Jubilee and two of the contemporary standard bearers, Big Freedia and Sissy Nobby.
