Norwegian jazz band The Thing recently recorded with Neneh Cherry; tonight they're at the Blue Nile with Joe McPhee.

Swedish adventurous jazz combo The Thing collaborated with Neneh Cherry, whose roots in the avant-garde are solid as Don Cherry's daughter and former vocalist for punk-jazz band Rip, Rig & Panic. Here are two videos from The Cherry Thing - covers of MF Doom's "Accordion" and Suicide's "Dream Baby Dream."

Tonight, The Thing will play upstairs at The Blue Nile as a part of the Open Ears Series with New York-based horn improviser Joe McPhee. Tickets are $15 at the door.
