The My Spilt Milk Awards This Thursday

We're counting down the hours to our first awards show, and we hope you'll be able to join us.

The My Spilt Milk Awards are now just hours away. On Thursday night at 8 p.m. (doors at 7), we'll honor for the first time the musicians that we and our readers believe made a difference in 2015. We'll name the winners Thursday night, but we believe all the nominees merit your attention in 2016 and the years to come.

Tickets are on sale now for the show - $25 for general admission, $60 for VIP (open bar minus shots and top shelf, a special viewing area with some seating and tables). On the day of the show, tickets go up to $30 and $70.

We're tracking My Spilt Milk Awards-related news on our Facebook events page, including recent previews of the night by Cree McCree for NewOrleans.me and B.E. Mintz for NOLA Defender. WGNO also gave us a shout-out and hosted in-studio performances by Tank and the Bangas on News with a Twist. All are very kind, and we appreciate the attention.

In other news, The Voodoo Music and Arts Experience has donated two pairs of VIP credentials to Voodoo 2016 over the Halloween weekend. We're giving away a pair to someone who retweets this Tweet, and to someone at the event Thursday night. It's a very generous and much appreciated donation.

Honorees and performers Rotary Downs have provided a door crasher's special--something that I hope is an awards show first with us. The first 50 people in the door will receive a copy of the band's excellent 2015 album Traces on bone-colored vinyl. When we first announced this, DJ Carmine P. Filthy wrote, "A triumph of an album," and My Spilt Milk's Alex Rawls liked it just as much.

We're previewing the show with stories on our performers:

- The Soul Rebels
- Andrew Polk
- AF the Naysayer
- The Breton Sound
- Tank and the Bangas (coming soon)
- Rotary Downs (coming soon)

Wel also have a story on one of our partners, the Gulf Restoration Network. The organization started in 1995, well before the Gulf Oil Spill, and sadly it's still needed.

We also have nailed down our schedule for Thursday

7 p.m. - doors open
8 - AF the Naysayer
8:20 - The Breton Sound
9:05 - Rotary Downs
9:50 - The Soul Rebels
10:45 - Tank and the Bangas

AF the Naysayer will also perform between sets.

Thanks to our sponsors, who helped to make this even possible: Fest Cola, Conversations Media, the VL Group, and Gasparian Immigration. They're good friends to My Spilt Milk and the New Orleans music community.
