Buena Vista Social Club alum Fonseca mixes cool American jazz with Cuban rhythms, while Los Po-Boy-Citos get the party started with funky Latin-soul (free). This year's contraption contest and bicycle rally, all part of the Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus' Season Kickoff Extravaganza, embrace all things Star Trek with the theme, "The Wrath of Khan-ival." The night ends with a CD-release, cash giveaways, and plenty of live music.

On Wednesday, New Orleans musician and mash-up guru, Madd Wikkid, leaked his latest mixtape, Don't Tell Noboby, featuring samples from The Meters, Dr. John, Lil Wayne, Cheeky Blakk, Juvenile, and other New Orleans artists. To celebrate the release, Madd Wikkid is DJ'ing and playing at his own dance party, Saturday starting 11:30 p.m., at Preservation Hall.

Amanda Shaw joins St. Cecilia's Asylum Chorus for a morning of classic vocal-oriented gospel and roots music at the Little Gem (And yes, there will be brunch). For more information click here

Big Freedia, the hip-hop visionary/World Record-holding twerk diva, can now add "reality television star" to her list of accomplishments. Big Freedia: The Queen of Bounce debuts Wednesday night on Fuse.tv; however, a premier party will be held Sunday night starting at 7 p.m., at The Republic.
