Voodoo News: Daily Lineups, Miguel on Colbert, and Benjamin Booker on Conan

We have the daily breakdowns at Voodoo. Also, Miguel showed another side, while Booker reassured us that he hasn't changed.

Single-day tickets are on sale now for the Voodoo Music and Arts Experience, and now we know who’ll play each day. Kendrick Lamar, LCD Soundsystem, Galantis and Kehlani top the bill for Friday, October 27 when the festival starts in City Park. Saturday night, Foo Fighters, DJ Snake, Brand New and RL Grime top the marquee, and the festival closes on Sunday with headliners The Killers, Dillon Francis, The Head and the Heart, and Post Malone.

The complete daily lineups are available on the Voodoo website, as are tickets and ticket packages.

Wednesday night, Miguel presented himself as less Prince-ly and more psychedelically earthy on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Miguel will play Voodoo on Sunday, and instead of presenting himself as a glam figure, he had a scruffy beard, his hair pulled back in dreads, and wore what looks like a camouflage poncho as he sat in a chair, played bass, and sang “Skywalker” from the upcoming War & Leisure. In the past, if Miguel sang, “Don’t sleep, you’ve got to stay up,” it would be because he had something freaky in mind. On the recording and particularly on Colbert’s stage, where his accompaniment was largely acoustic, it sounded more he wanted to get deep and really talk.

Here’s that performance, as well as the version of “Come Through and Chill” that he played only for the studio audience.

Earlier this month, Voodoo performer Benjamin Booker played “Right On You” on Conan. He'll play on Friday, and the first releases from Witness sounded like his second album might trade the rawness that made his debut album exciting in favor of a little respectability. On Conan, his hoarse vocals and punk take on the blues show that he hasn’t lost his fastball.
