Stevie, Petty, Maroon 5 Top the Jazz Fest Lineup

Bands from Cuba are in this year's international spotlight.

The returns of Stevie Wonder, Tom Petty, Maroon 5 and the focus on the music of Cuba are the news in the lineup for the 2017 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival presented by Shell. Kings of Leon, Pitbull, Alabama Shakes, and Widespread Panic will also return, as will Dave Matthews—this time in a duet setting with Tim Reynolds. The top newcomers to the lineup are Usher with The Roots, Meghan Trainor, Lorde, and Nas with The Soul Rebels.

Stevie Wonder was scheduled to play the second Saturday of Jazz Fest last year, but torrential rain forced the festival to cancel its last hours including Wonder’s set. When Jazz Fest returns to the New Orleans Fair Grounds April 28-30 and May 4-7, he’ll get a second chance. This year’s international focus will, to the surprise of absolutely no one, be Cuba, and this year’s performers will include Los Van Van, Chucho Valdés Quintet, Gente de Zona, The Pedrito Martinez Group & The Rumba, Telmary y Habana Sana, Adonis y Osain del Monte, Septeto Santiaguero, Changüí Guantánamo, Septeto Nacional Ignacio Piñeiro, Daymé Arocena, Conga Los Hoyos, and Grupo Caury.

Early bird single-day tickets for Jazz Fest are on sale now for $65 through Valentine’s Day, after which they’ll go up to $70 until they’re $80 at the gate. VIP tickets and travel packages are also on sale.
