The Tennessee Williams Festival, The People Say Project and Hotel Monteleone host Elmore Leonard Was Here, a tribute to the witty, dark humorist from New Orleans whose Westerns, crime fiction and suspense thrillers were eventually adapted into revered films, including Get Shorty, Jackie Brown, and Justified.

The third annual BUKU Music + Art Project continues Friday through Saturday night, with headliners including The Flaming Lips, David Guetta, Ellie Goulding, Zedd, Nas, Chromeo, Explosions in the Sky, Sleigh Bells, Chance the Rapper, and Wavves.


Friday night, Elton John returns to the Smoothie King Center celebrating the 40th anniversary of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (tickets).

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation hosts the Congo Square New World Rhythms Festival Saturday and Sunday in Armstrong Park, a free event that explores the music and culture of the African diaspora and the traditions that gave rise to New Orleans music.

Comedian Chelsea Peretti, most recently known for her role on the FOX comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine, performs stand-up at One Eyed Jacks, Wednesday at 9 p.m. (tickets).
