Bassnectar, MGMT, Sylvan Esso, SZA Top Buku's First Talent Roll-Out
The March festival at Mardi Gras World will reveal its lineup in three phases this year. Today starts the process.
Now that Voodoo is behind us, the Buku Music and Art Project is ready to start rolling out its lineup. This year, we’ll discover Buku’s lineup in three phases. Today we learned that the festival returns to Mardi Gras World March 9 and 10, 2018 with Bassnectar, MGMT, Sylvan Esso, SZA, Alison Wonderland, Isaiah Rashad, Flatbush Zombies, Borgore, Mura Masa, Bishop Briggs, Hippie Sabotage, Smino, Honey Dijon, Soulection, CloZee, Jade Cicada, Zack Villere and Bouffant Bouffant. We’ll learn more around Thanksgiving and early in the new year.
For a sense of what’s to come, check out My Spilt Milk’s reviews of SZA, Isaiah Rashad and Zack Villere. We also interviewed Alison Wonderland in 2016.
As Alex Woodward reported at Gambit, this will be the first Buku without the participation of Huka Productions. The company became the center of controversy when another festival it was a part of, Pemberton, was canceled, and the Warped Tour it promoted had a number of canceled dates as well including a stop in New Orleans. Now, long-time promoters Winter Circle Productions will present Buku in partnership with AEG Live, which also co-promotes Jazz Fest.
Buku tickets are on sale now.
