Retro soul singer Lee Fields will play One Eyed Jacks Monday, and we have tickets to give away.
Lee Fields has been singing classic R&B for more than 40 years, though he has never been hotter than he is now. With a younger, cratedigger band, he has found players like The Dap-Kings who believe in the power of soul and old school R&B and work to recreate it with passion, style, and a worthy singer. Fields's voice has never been more expressive or personal than it is today, as 2009's My World and 2012's Faithful Man demonstrate. After SXSW 2012, a critic wrote:
Like last year's Festival breakout Charles Bradley, Fields isn't a great singer, but he pours every ounce of himself into his songs and chooses just the right moments to unleash the bloodcurdling scream that warrants the nicknames Little J.B. and Soul Brother No. 2.
Fields will play One Eyed Jacks Monday, and we'll have an interview with him that day. Today, we have tickets to the show to give away. Register here for a chance to win. Contest closes at noon Monday.
