My Spilt Milk has a pair of tickets to give away to see Candyland and Unicorn Fukr Thursday, February 4 at the House of Blues. Register here for a chance to win.

Candyland began as a duo, but now Santa Barbara DJ Josie Martin is Candyland. According to Martin:

Coming into the scene was weird. When we first started I was just into turntabling, I wasn’t into dance music really. I was obsessed with scratching and beat-matching and juggling. DJ AM is what my thing was. The more I got into that, the more music I discovered.

Candyland’s recent remixes illustrate that commitment to being a club DJ first and running a particular style second. She draws from hip-hop, trap and dancehall not as an agenda but as a natural extension of songs and her interests.

New Orleans' Unicorn Fukr will open, and we recently debuted his collaboration with Quickie Mart on a remix of 5th Ward Weebie’s “Let Me Find Out”:

Quickie Mart and Unicorn Fukr did a version that drastically remakes the song as a house track that comes on like a wave, slowly building until it crests and fades away.

The contest closes February 3 at noon.
