Voodoo: The Sound of Voodoo

This year's Voodoo Music Experience takes place in City Park in three weeks, with OutKast, Arctic Monkeys, and Foo Fighters headlining. While the top of the Voodoo marquee is usually well known, the middle of the day can throw some curve balls. With that in mind, My Spilt Milk's Stephanie Chen has put together a Spotify playlist to help you know who's playing and what they're about.

Voodoo single day credentials are on sale now.

Zack Smith Finds His Exit

This Voodoo Music Experience was the first year since 2008 that Zack Smith was not backstage behind the Preservation Hall Stage with a makeshift photo booth and a camera or three. The end of that stage after Voodoo 2012 also meant the end of Smith’s space. One year, he had a sheet of plywood on a couple of sawhorses supporting a handful of cameras, some that shot to digital, some to film, all with different formats.

The Cure to Do Voodoo

The Cure join the lineup for this year's Voodoo Music Experience, which will take place November 1-3 on City Park's Festival Grounds. The reunited British band joins a festival that includes Pearl Jam, Nine Inch Nails, Calvin Harris, Bassnectar, Paramore, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Afrojack, Boys Noize, Shovels and Rope, The Revivalists, Matt and Kim, How to Destroy Angels, Dr. John and many more.

Voodoo News: New Pearl Jam in Time for Voodoo

Yesterday, Pearl Jam announced that it will release a new album, Lightning Bolt, on October 15. The date roughly coincides with the start of the band's fall tour that will bring it to New Orleans for the Voodoo Music Experience the weekend of November 1-3. They've also released an audio-only video for the punky "Mind Your Manners" from the upcoming album.
