Nas Shakes Off the Dust at Jazz Fest

A lot has changed for Nas since his last full-length release, Life is Good, in 2012. In a recent interview, he claimed a new album would be out before the end of 2017, but he’s been teasing the project for quite some time with nothing to show for it—no singles, no promo, no real hint of a release. Still, his fans remain loyal, and likely always will.

Jazz Fest News: Lorde Takes the Subway, and Nas and The Soul Rebels Hate Me Now

Last weekend, Jonah Weiner profiled Lorde for The New York Times Magazine. The piece follows her into the studio as she finishes her second album, Melodrama. Lorde will play Jazz Fest's Gentilly Stage Sunday, April 30 at 5:45 p.m., and according to Weiner, "Lorde has a sly facility with pop craft that often exhibits itself in curveballs.

New Orleans Music Awards Become the My Spilt Milk Awards

From here on out, My Spilt Milk's New Orleans Music Awards will be the My Spilt Milk Awards. We learned today that people were confusing us with the NOLA Music Awards, which honors hip-hop and urban music in New Orleans. That kind of confusion doesn't serve either awards shows or the music community well, so we've decided to change our name.

Voodoo News: A Long Last Look at a Shortened Voodoo

It was a shame to have Voodoo 2015 come to an early end with Sunday lost to rain and mud, but judging by the photos organizers posted on Facebook, the grounds were at least miserable if not dangerous. And, it’s hard to imagine who made the long, slow, precarious slog out through ankle-deep damp mud at the end of the night Saturday and didn’t ask themselves if anyone was worth another day of that.
