I started to write one review of Wednesday night’s Foo Fighters show at The Fillmore, but when I checked my review of their 2017 set at Voodoo to refresh my memory of what they did, I saw that 95 percent of my comments on that night apply to Wednesday’s show as well. So rather than say the same thing or paraphrase myself, I’ll simply say start here. I’ll wait.

Instant Culture's Going to Get You

Since Foo Fighters' appearance at Voodoo, I've been riding Dave Grohl and Sonic Highways pretty regularly here (and here) and on Facebook--probably creating the impression that I'm more hostile to him than I actually am. He's too amiable for me to genuinely dislke, and there are people making lousier, more cynical music in the world.

Voodoo: Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl is (Not) Average

If Dave Grohl radiated any douchiness, Foo Fighters would not have got away with the last few weeks. Name another band that would not be the national whipping boy after it launched an HBO mini-series that is in effect an eight-week ad for its new album, did a week-long residency on The Late Show with David Letterman, and been the subject of an Anderson Cooper profile on 60 Minutes.
