[Updated] Nicholas Payton has made himself an Internet creation. He certainly had an acclaimed career without the Interwebs, but he has adapted himself and his art well to its modes, preferences, and bricolage-like habits. He has become a brand, so that everything he says or does is an extension of #BlackAmericanMusic or #BAM.

Lenny Kravitz Joins Jazz Fest; the Twitterverse Says "Ehhh"

America can relax. The speculation is over. The much-discussed TBA for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival presented by Shell has been announced to be Lenny Kravitz, who’ll perform on Sunday, May 3. Kravitz last played Jazz Fest in 2004 and will come to New Orleans as part of his world tour in support of Strut, the album he released in December.

Monday, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival presented by Shell announced its day-by-day talent lineup and that tickets go on sale Tuesday. Social media didn't wait for the the lineup to be posted before floating Chumbawamba, Andy Williams and Boxcar Willie as facetious possibilities.

Wizard World Comic Con Goes Girl Crazy

My introduction to this year's Wizard World Comic Con came Saturday with lines dotted with Imperial Stormtroopers, superheroes, Drs. Who from a few incarnations, and cosplayers from across the pop culture spectrum. The lines to get in stretched in and out of the Morial Convention Center, but no one seemed to be particularly troubled by this development. Instead, the overall vibe was that they were among their people.
