Grosser Talks About Things Better Not to Tell

New Orleans-based hip-hop artist Grosser is in no hurry on his first mixtape, calm as things better not to tell. He takes his time on tracks that groove more than they hurry people to the dance floor. Throughout, the tracks' textures are clearly deliberate but they feel organic, like the natural soundtrack for somebody talking as much to himself as the audience as he works out his shit.

Anemoia and Burlesque at the Orpheum Theatre

A sterilized relic of Bourbon Street was on display in the Orpheum Theatre on Sunday night. Cupid’s Cabaret featured aerialists, singers, burlesque dancers and a contortionist, all of who gracefully dispatched with layers of clothing mid-performance. The music was mostly contemporary, but it did not detract from the nostalgic aura that swathed the experience. Meanwhile, the renovated Orpheum Theatre suffused a formal integrity that the burlesque dancers playfully subverted.

Buku Music and Art Project will be returning to Mardi Gras World for its fifth installment on March 11-12, 2016. Winter Circle Productions and Huka Entertainment released the festival’s lineup Monday, boasting headliners such as Pretty Lights, Kid Cudi, CHVRCHES, and Future, and accompanied the announcement with a highly stylized, twerk-filled video.
