Aerosmith, David Byrne, Jack White Top the Jazz Fest Lineup

When the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival presented by Shell returns April 27 to the Fair Grounds, it will be with Aerosmith, Aretha Franklin, Sting, Jimmy Buffett and his Acoustic Airmen, Jack White, Beck, Lionel Richie, David Byrne, Anita Baker, Bonnie Raitt, Khalid, Sturgill Simpson, Jack Johnson, Sheryl Crow, Common, and Cage the Elephant atop the lineup. Buku Adds Migos, Virtual Self, A Day to Remember and More to 2018 Lineup

A month or so ago, the Buku Music and Art Project announced Bassnectar, MGMT, SZA, and 14 more acts that will be on the lineup when the festival returns to Mardi Gras World March 9 and 10. Today, Buku added Migos, Porter Robinson's Virtual Self, A Day to Remember, Rezz, Little Dragon, a DJ set from Bonobo and more.

Now that Voodoo is behind us, the Buku Music and Art Project is ready to start rolling out its lineup. This year, we’ll discover Buku’s lineup in three phases. Today we learned that the festival returns to Mardi Gras World March 9 and 10, 2018 with Bassnectar, MGMT, Sylvan Esso, SZA, Alison Wonderland, Isaiah Rashad, Flatbush Zombies, Borgore, Mura Masa, Bishop Briggs, Hippie Sabotage, Smino, Honey Dijon, Soulection, CloZee, Jade Cicada, Zack Villere and Bouffant Bouffant.

Foo Fighters, Kendrick, LCD Soundsystem and DJ Snake Top Voodoo 2017 Lineup

Last week, Foo Fighters made news when out of the blue they released the single “Run,” and made more when its video was viewed 2.2 million times in the first 24 hours. Today, they’re in the news again as they’re slated to return to the Voodoo Music and Arts Experience, along with Kendrick Lamar, The Killers, LCD Soundsystem and DJ Snake.

Tuesday morning, the Voodoo Music and Arts Experience will release its talent lineup for this year’s festival. Voodoo will take October 27-29 in City Park, and this will be the second year that C3 Presents will produce Voodoo, which benefited from a more focused lineup with a more intuitive layout last year that addressed previous years' soundbleed issues. At a time when even the festival’s good years felt provisional, Voodoo 2016 raised the possibility that a corner had been turned.

The Ponderosa Stomp Returns with a Focus on Garage Bands in October

The Ponderosa Stomp will return October 6 and 7, this year to The Orpheum, where headliners will include Archie Bell (“Tighten Up”) , Gary U.S. Bonds (“Quarter to Three”), and Roky Erickson, who’ll play songs by the garage band that launched his legend, Thirteenth Floor Elevators.

A Quick Take on Jazz Fest 2017

What are the reasons to be excited by the lineup for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival presented by Shell? Not the top two lines of the talent release, which are filled with artists we’ve seen in the last decade. That’s certainly the case with Stevie Wonder, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and Maroon 5. Stevie, Petty, Maroon 5 Top the Jazz Fest Lineup

The returns of Stevie Wonder, Tom Petty, Maroon 5 and the focus on the music of Cuba are the news in the lineup for the 2017 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival presented by Shell. Kings of Leon, Pitbull, Alabama Shakes, and Widespread Panic will also return, as will Dave Matthews—this time in a duet setting with Tim Reynolds. The top newcomers to the lineup are Usher with The Roots, Meghan Trainor, Lorde, and Nas with The Soul Rebels.
