Travis Scott, $uicideboy$, ZHU Made Strong Showings at Backlit Buku

Buku made news Friday night when one patron had to be fished out of the Mississippi River, and I can’t be the only person who was surprised not that it happened but that it hadn’t happened sooner. That and the threat of rain Saturday were the only blemishes on an otherwise strong year, but the prospective rain’s primary impact was the early closure of the Front Porch Stage before the Saint Heron Showcase.

Buku 2017 Features Deadmau5, Travis Scott, Zeds Dead, Young Thug

Deadmau5, Travis Scott, Zeds Dead, Young Thug, Zhu, Tycho, Jauz, 21 Savage and Sleigh Bells are among the artists who’ll perform at the BUKU Music and Art Project March 10 and 11 at Mardi Gras World. Last year, BUKU focused on its core constituency—the electronic dance music audience—and had its strongest year yet.

Marshmello Keeps It Mello

Marshmello hides his identity on and off the stage. In public, he always wears a white marshmallow-shaped helmet to hide his face, much like Daft Punk or Deadmau5 do during their performances. He also wears all white from head to toe to better resemble an actual marshmallow. The surface of his white marshmallow-shaped helmet is covered with LED lights, which extends the light show to his head! The elements of mystery and 'cuteness' of the marshmallow costume made is meteoric rise viral.

Voodoo News: Sunday's Picks

Saturday didn't deliver the monsoon we were led to expect, but the continuous light rain, combined with all the foot traffic, took its toll on City Park's festival grounds. The plot of land that hosts Voodoo doesn't drain particularly well, so leaving after Ozzy Osbourne's closing set meant a literally joyless slog through mud and standing water--thankfully shallow, but still .... With that in mind, our top pick for Sunday is shoes you don't care about or shrimp boots that can take a beating.

Angello, PiL, Peaches Join Voodoo 2015

Today the Voodoo Music and Arts Experience added Steve Angello from Swedish House Mafia, Public Image Ltd., Metric, Peaches, and Ruby Amanfu to this year’s lineup. The festival returns to City Park on the Halloween weekend with Florence + The Machine and Jack Ü (Diplo and Skrillex) headlining Friday, October 30; Ozzy Osbourne featuring Geezer Butler, Tom Morello and Slash, and Steve Angello topping the bill Saturday; and Zac Brown Band and Deadmau5 closing the festival on Sunday night.

Florence + The Machine, Jack Ü, Ozzy and Friends, Deadmau5 and More Headline Voodoo 2015

The 17th edition of the Voodoo Music Experience presents perhaps its most eccentric top-line talent when it returns to City Park’s Festival Grounds October 30 to November 1. Florence + The Machine will headline, along with Diplo and Skrillex’s trap team-up Jack Ü, Ozzy Osbourne featuring Geezer Butler, Tom Morello and Slash, Jane’s Addiction, Zac Brown Band, and Deadmau5.
