Arctic Monkeys Are Overrated Performers But Underrated Musicians at Voodoo

Arctic Monkeys were the band everyone was supposed to know in 2013, but festival crowds today don’t seem to know what to do with them. They catapulted to mainstream fame with their fifth studio album, AM, which made them headliners on the summer rock festival circuit. They headlined one night of Voodoo in 2014, when they performed to a much more lively, engaged crowd than their 2018 audience.

Voodoo Announces Its Daily Lineup

The Voodoo Music and Arts Experience has released its day to day lineup with Mumford and Sons and Zeds Dead likely headlining the main stages—Le Ritual and Le Plur—on Friday, October 26 in City Park. On Saturday, Childish Gambino, Odesza, Martin Garrix and Marilyn Manson occupy the top slots, and Arctic Monkeys, Modest Mouse, and 21 Savage will close Voodoo on Sunday.

Voodoo: Ms. Lauryn Hill Made Saturday Night About Her

[Updated] Saturday night at Voodoo was supposed to be about Arctic Monkeys, who were headlining the festival to the surprise of everyone except all the people who showed up for them. When the first talent lineup was rolled out, their name on the bill prompted speculation that Skrillex would be the first EDM artist to headline Voodoo’s main stage.

Voodoo: The Sound of Voodoo

This year's Voodoo Music Experience takes place in City Park in three weeks, with OutKast, Arctic Monkeys, and Foo Fighters headlining. While the top of the Voodoo marquee is usually well known, the middle of the day can throw some curve balls. With that in mind, My Spilt Milk's Stephanie Chen has put together a Spotify playlist to help you know who's playing and what they're about.

Voodoo Releases Schedule, Single Day Tickets

[Updated] There has been a lot of speculation about who was the Voodoo Music Experience's third headliner on its Ritual Stage. Foo Fighters and Outkast were obvious, but after that it wasn't obvious. The last time Arctic Monkeys played the area, it was a show at the Varsity in Baton Rouge last year, but this summer they've been headlining festivals including Lollapalooza.
