Jazz Fest: Saturday's Schedule and Picks

Friday was a slightly soft start to Jazz Fest. There was never enough of a crowd to create lines for anything, and only in the last hour did the schedule force any hard choices. Fortunately, the day ended with a Steely Dan set that was as musical as you'd expect, a Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings set that was a lesson in old school R&B and showmanship, and Janelle Monae's emotional tribute to Prince. It was particularly affecting to see someone as self-possessed as Monae in tears onstage as she played "Take Me with U" and "Let's Go Crazy."

Gleason Gras to Kick Off the Saints' Season

[Updated] In its first two years, Gleason Gras was plagued by rain that - *ahem* - dampened attendance. On Friday, Team Gleason and the Louisiana Hospitality Foundation present the event when it returns to Champions Square, this time doubling as a pep rally to start the 2013 season for the New Orleans Saints, who'll play the Atlanta Falcons Sunday at noon in the Superdome.

Jazz Fest in Photos: Anders, George Benson & More

Photographer David Fary was at the Fair Grounds for My Spilt Milk, and his Dr. John shot now tops the wrap-up story. Here are some of his highlights from Friday.
