The pop-rap duo plays the House of Blues Sunday and we have tickets.
YouTube views don't always equate to sales, but in the case of pop-rap duo MKTO, they do. The least-viewed of their videos has been seen more than a million times, and their hit--"Classic"--has been viewed more than 23 million times. The song has also sold more than a million copies, and it's easy to hear why. "Classic" evokes the clear, clean pop grooves of The Jackson 5--which they reference musically and lyrically--but with the sonic sheen of contemporary production. Its ambition is also pretty level-headed. "Classic" doesn't want to change your life; it just wants to be your summer jam.
John Wirt's story today in The New Orleans Advocate tells how Malcolm Kelley and Tony Oller met while acting on the Nickelodeon series Gigantic. "We played best friends on the show, and then we became best friends off the show." The duo will play The House of Blues Sunday, and we have a pair of tickets to give away.
