Wednesday: Jolie Holland, Shy Hunters, 8 p.m., House of Blues: Jolie Holland's folk rock has been a little mannered in the past; it's a lot mannered on The Wine Dark Sea, which trades in her love of melody for Waitsian distortion and yowl. Photographer Skip Bolen has opened LA46, a "general store and vintage market" at 2232 St. Claude Ave. Saturday night at 6, bassist James Singleton will perform, and Houston mural artist Sharla Hammond will create a mural outdoors with the the theme "Everyday People."
